Getting picked up along makati ave

I was on my way home from work, walking along Makati Avenue with my denim jacket all buttoned up against the cold weather and holding on tightly to my umbrella. I've had a cold for several days now and it felt like it's only gonna get worse, it's been raining the whole day and I was looking as crappy as the weather and how I felt.

Anyway, so I was walking like I said, lost in my own thoughts when I hear someone ask a question. I did not even see the person because I heard it when I passed him but I knew immediately he's a foreigner because he spoke in English with a heavy accent. So I stopped and turned to look at him, then asked him to repeat his question. I'm not sure but I if he's Japanese or Korean, I just know he's so dang hard to understand. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a cap and he was asking me how to get to the Landmark. So I told him to just to keep on going where he's heading until he reaches the intersection, cross the underpass and walk a bit more and he'd see it. And then he started telling me a lot of stuff and asking me a lot of stuff, about more than half of it I didn't quite understand. Some of the things I was able catch was he asking me if by chance I am japanese coz I don't look Filipino, and some stuff about his staying in the country for a few months and then asking me again, this time if I can teach him English. I found the conversation getting weirder by the minute, but still I politely said that I am not a teacher and if he wishes he can go to the nearby library (hee!) and ask there for someone who can help him.

All alarms went off in my head when he then told me that he'd really just like to be my friend coz he's got these so many friends in all these countries he's been to and that he'd like to get to know me better. I contemplated for a few seconds if I should bolt right then and there and then thought that with my luck I'd probably slide and fall and then the freako would have to get close to me to help me up. Besides, it wasn't dark yet and some people are passing by and looking at us curiously so I doubt if he'd try anything funny. I decided on telling him that I'm sorry but I have to go and meet someone who is waiting for me. He then had the nerve to ask me if we can exchange mobile numbers; and that's when I realized that I'm not gonna get rid of this guy with subtle excuses so I used the best weapon a girl could throw at any pesky guy: I told him I can't give it to him because my boyfriend wouldn't like it. And it proved quite effective; he immediately took a step back as if he encountered an invisible wall and he said ok and he thought me very beautiful. I thanked him and hurried away, looking back after walking a good distance to make sure I wasn't being followed.

So was it a pickup attempt or not? I really don't know, but if it was, it sure is a disappointment. In my mind I've always imagined I'd say something very witty like the girl Betty in Sin City,"I don't do group jobs. I don't do talk jobs either."

But if I don't ever get the chance to say that, it'll be just fine by me.

yep, feeling a wee bit better. I guess I just need to get a decent sleep. I've been coming home late this week so I'm really looking forward to just staying home this weekend, recovering. Thanks for asking sis. Mwah!
